

Itâs almost as though Excel has an invisible menu at work behind the scenes. If you go on to press S, you wind up at the familiar Paste Special dialog box, because Excel knows what youâre trying to do. When you hit Alt+E in Excel 2007, you see a tooltip appear over the top of the ribbon ( Figure I-6) that lets you know youâve started to enter an Excel 2003 menu shortcut. The result is that you can still use your menu shortcuts, but they work in a slightly different way. After all, Excel 2007 doesnât even have a corresponding series of menus! Fortunately, Microsoft went to a little extra trouble to make life easier for longtime Excel aficionados. You can then press the S key to choose the Paste Special command.Īt first glance, it doesnât look like these keyboard shortcuts will amount to much in Excel 2007.
